Once you’re a permanent resident in Canada, you have the option to apply to become a Canadian citizen. To do this, you must prepare and pass a citizenship test, as well as meet a set number of requirements. You must be a permanent resident of Canada, you must have lived in Canada for at least 3 years of the past 5 years, or at least 1,095 days in the past 5 years, you must pass your citizenship test, and demonstrate your proficiency in English or French.
